Promotion Criteria


Please discuss with your child the following promotion requirement.

Students must achieve and maintain a cumulative 2.0 Grade Point Average (GPA) to participate in promotion activities. Students who currently have below a 2.0 GPA will be closely monitored. Students who have below a 2.0 GPA will be placed on Academic Probation during the 4th Quarter and will be given the opportunity to improve their grades before a final decision is made by the Principal. This requirement is intended to promote academic excellence and will only affect a small percentage of Pleasant Hill Middle students.  We believe that participation in the promotion ceremony is a privilege earned by hard work and dedication.  When a student has missing homework and/or classroom assignments, the impact on the student’s achievement level can be significant as it affects his/her performance on assessments.  Ultimately, the GPA moves downward as the assignments and assessments are major contributors to the GPA calculation by teachers.
